ABSTRACT
Augusto dos Anjos (1884 - 1914) is one of the most original Brazilian poets of the twentieth century. He does not belong to a strict literary style and his poetry is marked by the use of scientific terms, by the existential suffering and by metaphysical questions. The personality of Augusto dos Anjos is described as melancholic and tormented, and he was known as "Doctor Sadness". He also had migraine. This paper reviews the biography of Augusto dos Anjos and investigates how his poetry echoes his psychopathological traits. We analyze the relations between creative genius and mental disorders. We also discuss the relations between migraine and psychopathology.
Augusto dos Anjos (1884 1914) é uma das vozes mais singulares da poesia brasileira do século XX. Sem nítida afiliação a uma escola literária específica, seus versos são marcados pelo léxico científico, pela inquietação metafísica e pelo sofrimento existencial. Observações biográficas relatam que o poeta tinha uma personalidade melancólica e angustiada, que lhe valeu a alcunha de "Doutor Tristeza". O autor também sofria de migrânea. Este trabalho revisita a biografia e a obra de Augusto dos Anjos, analisando como sua poesia repercute seus possíveis traços psicopatológicos, e discute sobre as relações entre gênio criativo e transtorno mental, além das relações entre migrânea e psicopatologia.

Resumo O paraibano Augusto dos Anjos ocupa um lugar singular na literatura brasileira, sendo difícil alinhá-lo a um estilo literário estrito. Sua poesia é marcada por versos angustiados, pela dimensão existencial e pelo vocabulário repleto de termos científicos. A obra do poeta se reveste de interesse neuropsiquiátrico, seja pela abundante presença de termos relacionados, seja por refletir concepções neurocientíficas da transição entre os séculos XIX e XX. Este trabalho revisita sua produção literária, com duplo foco: primeiro, busca identificar como sua poesia repercute o viés organicista da psiquiatria dessa época, conforme geralmente personificado na figura de Emil Kraepelin; segundo, tenta explorar os conteúdos ideológicos presentes na obra, como a perspectiva darwinista e a tensão entre o dualismo e o monismo materialista.
Abstract Augusto dos Anjos, from Paraíba, Brazil, occupies a singular place in Brazilian literature, defying alignment with any one literary style. His poetry is marked by anguished verse, by existential dimensions and a vocabulary replete with scientific terms. His work is of great interest to neuropsychiatry, not just for the abundance of related terms, but also because it reflects conceptions from neuroscience at the turn of the twentieth century. This study focuses on his literary output from a dual perspective: by identifying how his poetry reflects the organicist tendency in psychiatry at the time, as generally personified in the figure of Emil Kraepelin, and by exploring the ideological content of the work, like the Darwinist perspective and the tension between dualism and materialistic monism.

RESUMO Objetivo Realizar a tradução e a adaptação cultural da Escala de Despersonalização de Cambridge (EDC) para o português brasileiro. Métodos Foi realizada a tradução da escala em duas versões, seguida por retrotradução por nativo de língua inglesa. Os itens da escala foram comparados e adaptados para o contexto brasileiro e, então, transformados em uma versão-teste, que foi aplicada em 30 participantes sem diagnóstico de transtorno psiquiátrico. Resultados A versão em português da EDC mostrou boa compreensibilidade. A maior parte dos participantes relatou experiências transitórias ligadas à despersonalização nos últimos seis meses (53,3% dos casos), incluindo a sensação de ser um observador externo de si mesmo (35%) e sensação de estar fora do corpo (10%). Conclusões O presente estudo confirma a alta frequência de experiências de despersonalização. Serão necessários estudos para verificação das propriedades psicométricas da escala.
ABSTRACT Objective To perform the translation and cultural adaptation of the Cambridge Depersonalization Scale (CDS) to Brazilian Portuguese. Methods The scale translation was performed in two versions, followed by back translation by a native English speaker. Scale items were compared and adapted to the Brazilian context, and then transformed into a test version, applied to 30 participants without diagnosis of psychiatric disorders. Results The Portuguese version of the CDS showed good comprehensibility. Most participants reported depersonalization transient experiences over the last six months (53.3% of the cases), including feeling of being an outside observer of the self (35%) and feeling of being outside the body (10%). Conclusions The current study confirms the high frequency of depersonalization experiences. Further studies are needed to verify the psychometric properties of the scale.
